SUSPECTED drugs, a weapon and stolen goods were seized as police swooped on a Tyneside taxi office.
Six men were arrested yesterday afternoon at Central Taxis’ premises in both Nile Street and Railway Terrace, North Shields, as officers searched 25 taxis.
The Chronicle understands one of those in custody being quizzed is the firm’s owner, Graeme Kennedy.
North Tyneside command area officers were involved in the strikes and it is understood North Tyneside council was aware of the operation.
A CID spokesman said: “Six men were arrested yesterday afternoon after police carried out search warrants on suspicion of the handling of stolen goods at Central Taxis in North Shields at both offices, Nile Street and Railway Terrace.
“Two men were arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon. One was bailed and the other cautioned.

30 police would find the same searching any random 30 cars in shields. what a waste of public money….

the fact mr k’s house was also searched and he was arrested along with *** *****(*********)and ***** the *** after a quantity of cocaine was found at * ******** raises the following question.is mr k a fit and proper person to hold an operators licence?maybe this is a case of the powers to be at killingworth turning a blind eye to the goings on at central taxis.
