It seems other Cities in the world have problems with enforcement too!
The following is a Comment by a New York Hack on Yellowcabnyc.com
Under this commissioner every black car licensed or not has had a field day picking up on the streets. There is no enforcement its a joke. The black cars are cutting off yellow cabs on every corner and when you get next to them they just laugh. They laugh at how stupid we are paying a Lease to pick up a fare. They get away with ripping of customers. They get $ 20 dollars for a $ 10 dollar ride . They ignore every rule that this joke of a commissioner has set. With 5 fares in 3 hours they make more money than most lease drivers make on a 12 hour shift. It has become so lucrative that now some companies lease a black towncar for $ 325 a week and show their drivers how to make money with street hails If by any chance one of those so called TLC inspectors issues a summons they also have TLC reps to dissmiss them.They have TLC attorneys on retainer just for that purpose . When Mr Daus says” we had a good year” I wonder who is he referring to? The yellow cab industry is hurting. Open your eyes Mr Daus . The riding public is getting used to dealing with these criminals, breaking every TLC rule. The riding public is accepting them daily as if they were legal to pick up. The riding public is used to them charging as they do. The riding public by now knows this is what goes on in NYC. Even tourist are now are familiar with the black cabs that you can bargain with. The tourist know that that’s the way it done here in NYC Whatever happened to the the silly crack downs that are in the news the day before it starts. When are you as commissioner of this agency get control of this situation? WHEN ?

@ian shanks,
Well done ian for taking a firm stand and getting rid off them !
The annoying part is by now 15:45 on monday they will have another offices data/radio in and be back were you cauught them next weekend flimping or ripping people off !
Which proprieter is gonna say no when a £100 is waved under his nose.
I have heard of drivers who pay £100 a week just basically to display a roofsign or door stickers and flimp all weekend and dont hardly ever work the data system.
The fact is if the enforcement had have done what you are doing and PAYING people to try and catch these tw**s out they would have lost there badge and be off the streets !
One last question Ian , do Northtyneside ever send enforcement in to Newcastle to check Northtyneside cars or is there enforcement as non existant as Newcastle city councils ?

@Am133,
North Tyneside perform like Newcastle Enforcement !!
they do work in joint exercises from time to time, and i don’t know if your aware, but councils like North Tyneside and Newcastle have a permanent arrangement in place with each other in deputising each others officers for such enforcement exercises !! i just don’t know why Newcastle does not have this agreement with all surrounding councils ! maybe its their pride ???

@ian shanks,
ian, while i might not always see eye to eye with you, well done for doing this.
but why not go 1 further and do the RIGHT thing, ask yourself do we need drivers like this in the trade, not just at your office, and report them to there LA?

Nice one Ian, we dont need people like that working with us, this type of behaviour only damages the image of the company and turns people away, just like SOME of the Newcastle hack drivers have pushed customers our way by overcharging etc.
Keep up the ‘in house enforcement’
You mentioned two drivers, can you tell us why the other driver no longer works @ BLT?

Are you gonna name and shame or at least tell us the cars (like the black Audi A4 you caught) they were driving so EVERYONE can keep a lookout for these people?

@ Ian shanks and all
Ian you mentioned the AUDI A4 mate. Is that the Lansdowne silver audi with plate on parcel shelf and wrong top sign that flimped a job at sea night club at around 2:30 am on the 14/3/09.
Two lads asked everyone their to take them and everyone refused until our friend in the Audi done his public service and took the lads home.

@MB 27, no mate the Audi A4 that Ian sacked is a black 05 model currently working at five star, i saw the same car just last wek stop on Byker bridge for a flag down, strange as i always thought Byker Bridge was within Newcastle boundaries, not Derwentside which is his liscensed area to accept flag downs, now the same lad say me slow down and shanke my head at him but he just laughed. now the cheeky F***ER has the nerve to flash and wave to me when he sees me. T***ER, he seems to be above the law for now but if im out in town tonight and if i see him i will get in his car for a lift home but wont pay him as hes not a toon hack, whats he gonna do, fone the police? interesting. i think i will find him at the top end of the big market so ive a bit of a walk to find him but hey, i live 14 miles from town, look at the money i will save!

@BLT driver and proud of it,
Thats the problem he gets sacked from blueline a North tyneside office and because hes out of town he can go anywhere.
If I was sacked as a Newcastle PH my options would be limited to newcastle offices.
