What other City in the World would allow this?A Taxi is forced to sit at the rear of a Rank because private cars are parked on the rest of it. The silver truck was parked for 3 hours! |

The office i work for allows ten minutes travelling timne to jobs , on thursday i was just coming into town and got a job from liquid at 2am , it was 1.50am so i pulled straight around , the silver vectra bandit plate photographed above pulled in and picked up with no topsign on and landsdowne auriga data on dash turned off , within ten minutes he was back and picked up again how strange i thought , he must have fantastic psycic powers to know that 2 people would have rang landsdowne from that precise spot within ten minutes of each other and he got the jobs without turning on his data !!! Newcastle enforcement seem to think that the flimping only happens on a friday OR saturday , what the fu*k are we paying massive licensing fees for if they dont spend it on ENFORCING.
We pay for them to police the taxi trade and prevent this kind of thing the whole situation is a joke now !!!!

EAST COAST TAXI NEW OFFICE
Can anyone tell me if east coast taxis have opened an office just down from ‘For Your Eyes Only’ or at ‘the old fire station’ as I have noticed a huge increase in the number of their cars sat there & not just for ten minutes. I might be wrong & they might just be stopping for a cup of tea & a chinwag or is it because the punters from the Lap Top Club have to walk past them.

Thats because he’s not a private hire vehicle!!!! He’s an OUT OF TOWN HACKNEY and it’s the Hackney part that seems to confuse most drivers of out of town plates.
But lets be honest he is probably related or a close bud of the Hacks sitting Cherry picking so he’s probably doing them a favour.
When I was sitting at Pizza hut the other day a Newcastle Hack sent two lasses over to my car. Were they going to sunderland wait and return NO!!!! castle leazes. I explained to the young lady’s that he was infact cherry picking and sent them back. He didn’t seem pleased and pulled away with nobody in. Could this also be the reason why we see the same cars flimping in the same places everyday????????? Yes we need more enforcement but we also need more drivers taking a leaf out of AM 133 book and NAME AND SHAME THEM, make it public and get evidence to prove it. That might make the little F****ers thinks twice.

@MB 27, what a fanatastic idea name and shame… top of the list has to be central taxis bread van of n/t white plate 125…. how on earth does he manage to get so much work from the bottom end of town???… sits in the yard by the coach station… and can always be found on a saturday night at the front of the queue at powerhouse… i would love to know how he does it.. the mans a genius!!!!

@MB 27,
This is more of a reply to Dangermouse`s posting in jest of course, as I stand to be corrected, but is Plate 125 North Tyneside Hackney Carriage not the one with PINK Lettering on the cab, maybe he is one of the sweet boys of Little Britian needing to be in the Gay Area of Town.
We do not have a Gay Bar Area in North Tyneside even thought loads work on the Cobalt Office Complex alledgedly.
or
Maybe he is booked for Mafanwee you know.

I totally agree with comments from Am133 & I think that when you start with either blue line or lansdowne, I believe that you get issued a magical crystal ball along with your datahead, this magical ball infact some how seems to magic up illegal jobs for banditos & at the sametime rips off the hard working Hacks.
I believe that if something isn’t done soon then what will probably happen will be that a breed of vigilanty taxis drivers will start taking action. I am not saying that I agree with crime, but everyone has a limit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On another note, I was picking up in the filter lane at the gate on Friday 6/3 & I was second in the queue. A Black lad went to the saloon hack infront of me ( I remember his plate, but will give him a chance to explain to me in person first). The punter looked abit of a jumpy jack , however sat in the rear of the cab infront & then got back out again. The saloon hack then took a pretty young lady instead. When the punter got into my cab I asked him what was the matter & he said that the driver didn’t know where the lad wanted to go, when it was BRIGHTON HOTEL, BRIGHTON GROVE, come on if that is not cherry picking I don’t know what is!!!!!!! So I get the mug job, while cherry picking champion gets to rip off the pretty young girl, god I hope she was a enforcement officer & took his badge!!!
I always take the crap with the good & end up doing trips from gate to liquid, so what is a fare.

Its very very clear that fundamental issues you face within Newcastle City is:
1 the “cherry pickers” amongst you have encouraged the flimpers to flimp and its now out of control to the point others also think they can get away with it !
2 Enforcement needs to be brought to the streets of Newcastle in a big big way.
But its my Guess that you will not get this sorted because who amongst you will take the fight on.
Many years ago it was seen as NODA and the team that ran it would put demands on the council for things to be done and results were often achieved
But there is no one organisation that seems to command the respect of the council any more !!
SO IT LOOKS LIKE YOUR UP THE CREEK !!!

BULLSHIT & TAXI PROPAGANDA; Ian you know most of these stories about passing jobs on to out of town plates is bull shit & taxi propaganda. I work nights and you know as well as every hack driver in Newcastle that 99% of jobs are students on week days. Giving you an average £5 fare to Jesmond or Castle leazes.So if a driver kept knocking back a job he would be there all night. Not only that but the driver behind would be out the car like a rocket to ask what the f**K your playing at. I am not saying cherry picking is not going on, but that can really only happen on a very busy Saturday night. The only people cherry picking are the out of town plates & Newcastle private hire. We know this is not all drivers with private hire plates but a hell of lot of them. This is no good for your business as well as mine and this can not be allowed to carry on.
The views expressed in this site do not necessarily reflect the views of TooManyTaxis or the general U.K. Hackney Carriage Trade
you need to speak to some of your fellow drivers about this cherry picking and open your eyes !!
and if you can make up your own mind, as to weather it does or doesn’t, that might help as you say bullshit and propaganda at the start of your post and towards the end your agreeing cherry picking goes on !!
quote. I am not saying cherry picking is not going on, but that can really only happen on a very busy Saturday night.
well does it or doesn’t it !!! cause if if does, no matter when you think it happens, its that time of the week that causes the flimpers to thinks its OK
wake up and smell the coffee son !!!!

FOR 1 IM NOT YOUR SON & with your double standards would not wish to be.You your self have helped to create this mess the taxi trade is in.But we wont go over old ground again.In my posting Im making the point that you wouid wait all night for a good job on a week day & was in response to a earlier posting when some one said a driver passed a job to a out of town plate outside Liquid.This just would not happen.as I said the driver behind would be straight out his car to find out what going on.As were not all wimps who sit back & do nothing about are trade.As I said it needs to be busy in the first place & it tends to happen a way from the rank as these idiots who do cherry pick are hoping that the punter is desperate to get home & do not wish to que up.Then the cherry picker takes advantage.But I willsay this there,s good & bad on both side of the fence as you your self have proved recently.Now lets hope you name and shame so we can watch out for them.Or is it just bullshit & properganda.

@Ian shanks,
listen ian, he admitted that he looked like a jumpey jack, that one comment dosent prove that he ripped off the lady he took, that the lady was a BETTER job, or that teh jumpy jack didnt do something to upset the driver when he got in!
i have hoyed people straight back out for there attitudes, am a taxi driver not a mug, and when i ask where there going and tell me to shut the f**k up and just drive, it’s gonna be the shortest journey there ever gonna take in a taxi!
maybe the driver here is only guilty of not getting out and telling his fellow driver behind the reason why he is refusing. I do this for attitudes, no money etc etc and never have a problem, and it wises the lads up behind!
The views expressed in this site do not necessarily reflect the views of TooManyTaxis or the general U.K. Hackney Carriage Trade
I agree with you Ian on the `cherry picking` front and the fact that `enforcement` in Newcastle is now a `thing of the past`.
The City is wide open to anyone to do just as they wish,neither the council nor the police have any credance,among certain factions of our industry…a very dangerous situation to be in.
But ,leaving NODA out of it,the council also know that the `spineless wonders`,in our trade,including some `multiple plate holders` don`t give a toss,the attitude being that they will always get drivers for their cars,licensed or not,as long as the `bit` is paid.
BUT..you yourself also bear some guilt for this mess Ian,since operators like yourself showed these `clowns`how to get around the Law,and get away with it.
Some could be forgiven for thinking that you had the idea of mors drivers paying you rent for a radio.since you seem to have a free hand to work in town,without a license,bearing in mind you do need a license to operate `private hire` vehicles,issued by the local authority,in this case `Newcastle city council. North Tyneside council does not issue licenses to operate in Newcastle,on a permanent basis. Or do you have excemption to that bylaw too as you seem to have to displaying plates on your cars. I always thought the office operator was responsible for making sure his/her drivers were all licensed and displaying the required ensignia on their cars…including plates,correctly displayed. Can you really blame drivers for putting a roofsign on a possibly private car and going out to work as a taxi,NO PLATE,when there are quite a few drivers,supposedly working fot BLT doing just that.
Also,the white nissan is it,BLT door stickers on it with what look like `blacked out` rear door windows and rear screen.
So as I say Ian,you and the council have helped create the mess we have now in this trade,so if your previous posting regarding wanting nothing but the best for your customers,and the trade in general is true….stop posting this sort of out of date shite,get yourself up to the council and use some of the weight you seem to think you have to get something done…after all,between Newcastle,North Tyneside,Berwick,and others,plus your self,you created the mess,and showed others how to take part.

@ian shanks, you cud keep ur sheds in their own borough ? you cant move at the top of the big market with out BLBs (BLUE LINE BERWICKS) blocking the laybys. Explain how a North tyneside taxi can pick up from newcastle going to heaton ? in insurance terms it cant.
The views expressed in this site do not necessarily reflect the views of TooManyTaxis or the general U.K. Hackney Carriage Trade
@ian shanks,
ian, you keep trying your best to divert people away from the truth! do you hounestly think we phone round offices on a friday and saturday and tell the drivers to get down and steal our wages! ian how many hacks do you see ‘parked up’ at weekends cherry picking, 10,20 – a very small percentage eh ian?
now lets look at the VAST amount of private hire that park up flimping (AKA cherry picking with NO INSURANCE!), only a fool would argue that there wasnt a MUCH HIGHER percentage! after all, at least when a hack ‘cherrypicks’ he is insured, when a private hire or out of town plate flimps, he is not, simple.
but ian, for some reason you want to try and divert us away from the real problem here, maybe you relise that the flimping that goes on by drivers within your office in oreder to try and scratch a living is so HIGH that IF they ALL were caught in a sting, it wouldnt look good for your office, or wages.
ian, i agree that enforcement needs to be out, not hack monitoring, but catching the private hire and out of towners, and then PROSECUTING them when caught!
and your constant digs at claims that we are not organised, do nothing but sit and watch, are to the very least laughable.
after all ian, who sorted the delegations meeting with the head of the council, who tries to get us as much press as possible, who had over 200 cars 1/3rd of the trade ian (and bare in mind certain proprietors refused there drivers to participate!), who aranged for a meeting with the police and enforcement last year when over 200 drivers turned up, who is doing these things ian if we have no one to represent us? I’ll tell you, a commitee of hard working hack drivers from ALL aspects of the trade, thats who! And hats off to those guys!
stick to blueline ian, cause you clearly know nothing about the hackney trade.
ohh and ian, why when the police were moving hackney carriadges off the double yellow lines several weeks ago, were you radio’ing in then several blueline cars pulling in and parking there place?

Tonight my mate rang me and asked if i could pick him up from aspers.I managed to park bang outside the door and whilst i was waiting i got the usual are you booked mate? and can you take me to denton burn?. Three times i got approached and each time i knocked them back a lad with a lansdowne fleece and a mobile rang for taxis. Whats the crack heer? Is this legal?

Lansdowne have a rep inside Aspers who books taxis for their customers, maybe he was outside last night doing the same thing? I’d think as he has phoned the job in, thus booking with the office, then its as legal as any other job that is booked over the phone?

the demand on any of the licensing departments is none exsistance now even more so in N/T (like ian said there was once organisations there to put demands on licensing departments for the good now its for there own good & not the trade) – its fair to say since the ( berwick ) court case its a free for all now,the out of town drivers feel they`ve been fully vindicated now( who can blame them) , as for proving hard ship to retain your berwick plate there`s wealthy office a propieter still licensing out of town plates for that bit extra,so now its a case of every one in the trade to look after no`1 earn what you can when you can till its not worth going out & starting your car up,

2.50 this morning sitting at fed brewery dunston waiting for my booking,blueline car behind me,landsdowne car behind him a couple asked me to take them to ponteland then on to belsay,canny little earner me thinks,but explained to them i was booked. they then said ..well if your booking doesnt show will you take us,after explaining that i was not licenced to do so and telling them that i had a contact number for my pick up and had already spoken to them i suggested they ring for a taxi,no specific company mentioned and off they went,now can anybody guess who flimped this job? well done LANSDOWNE TAXIS silver vectra berwick plated,so if you did have a booking from there,did you just bugger off and drop them in the shit cos somebody waved a couple of tenners in your face,its people like you that get the rest of us a bad name

I tend to dissagree with you Admin, when it comes to these loose cannons behind the wheel to transport the public about & some times the vunerable, we`ve all heard countless horror stories & they come thick & fast whether a punter has had a nightmare from hell journey or being well over charged & yes been verb abused by wether it be a pole asian or any foriegn berwick bandit the blame lies squarely at the feet of any office proprieter who for that extra £ puts them in that position to do so & its them who should be held accountable weather it be through health & saftey laws or the courts if on the more serious matter,they shouldnt be allowed an operaters license ever again.

@homersdouble,
we have identified the driver and taken the appropriate steps regarding the plate.
She claims that she does not smoke in her car as its “new” so and on checking it does not smell of stale tabacco.
She has a handsfree kit in the car so she was unlikley to have the phone pressed againsed her head.

Dangermouse!
How does those Five Star Derwentside Cars always flimp at the Top of the Bigg Market???
You refer to the Central (North Shields) Taxi as a “Bread Van”, it’s a well maintained 56 Plate Scudo, maintained by the Driver himself, as for the “White Plate” as you put it, that my friend is a North Tyneside Hackney Carriage Plate!!
So if YOU call that a “Bread Van”, what would you call that Newcastle Hackney “M” reg, yes M for Mother, Peugeot 405 then???, at the Central Station????…….a vehicle worth less than the Fare??
Regards

As far as i can see,the letter was about the fact that this vehicle `flimps` at the top of the Bigg Mkt,which when I sat my knowledge test,a few years ago now,was in Newcastle,NOT North Tyneside.
The Scudo and the Peugeuot equivalent have always been refered to as `bread vans` since both are based on vans used by a well known local baker,so dont get so uptight,its not derogatory.
Also,I take it that the driver is a qualified mechanic as you say he does his own maintenance,otherwise how do we know he does the work safely.
Incidentally,I am a mechanic,with the paperwork to prove it,I just prefer to drive a cab,rather than fix them.

Dangermouse and John Dodds!
I have caught up with the “Bread Van” (Central Taxis NT Hack, Fiat Scudo, Plate 125, Pink Livery) driver tonight, I have informed him of your comments and he invites you to challenge him, because he is perfectly Legit up there in the smoke!!!!
First of all he has contracts with a number of the Powerhouse Nightclub staff, Boom staff and the Circus (Stanley) Casino Staff, if you would like to have his work and run him out of Town, you must take up to seven people all the way to Whitley Bay for £15.00, he is willing to let you have it!, would any of you Lads do that?????….at peak times!
NO! eh????

@Stephen Arthur,
Nice 1 Stephen,
After talking to you tonight and you informing me of what crap and lies get posted on this site I actualy got one of my regular customer bookings in town. Whilst waiting for my customer (a £15.00 fare back to whitley bay) a couple approached my cab and asked if I could take them to Stanley (County Durham) and how much it would cost. I told them I was not licensed to pick up and that I was pre-booked. I directed them to tha Newcastle Hackney rank at the Centre for Life and said the fare would cost them £30.00+. This was witnessed by several Newcastle Hack drivers but I bet none are so brave to admit what they saw. This Central “BREAD VAN” driver does not and never has or will flimp, hack or work illegally on the streets of Newcastle City. If I did I would have took a £30.00+ fare to Stanley and left my poor regular £15.00 fare standing on a street corner!!!!!!!!

Nice 1 Stephen,
Well mate after our chat earlier tonight and you informing me of the crap and lies that are posted on this site I actually got 1 of my regular customer bookings in town and going back to whitley bay (a £15 fare). Whilst waiting for my regular customer I was approached by a couple who asked to go to Stanley (County Durham) and how much it would cost. I told them that I was not licensed to pick up (as I always do), that I was already pre booked. I directed the couple to the Newcastle Hackney Rank opposite and said to check the fare with the driver but I would be £30+. This was witnessed by several Newcastle Hackney Drivers but I bet NONE of them are brave enough or man enough to admit what they saw!!!!! This North Tyneside “BREAD VAN DRIVER” has NEVER and will NEVER flimp, hack or work illegally anywhere. If I did then I would be on my way to Stanley with a good fare in my cab and my poor regular customer would be left stranded on the streets of Newcastle!!!! yes I may be a North Tyneside Hackney Carriage but I also work through an office and this is where 80% of my business comes from. If you want to name and shame then look elsewhere guys and not at me and if you want a 7 seater job from town going back to whitley bay for £15 then you are most welcome!!!!!

That sits in the gay area all night.He was once known as central parked up.And once apon a time bragged on this site he was the No 1 flimper in town & wanted to run a book on who flimped the best job.But soon stopped putting postings on when every one discovered he was offering cut price fares for **** jobs after one lad made a quick exit from the bread van.Into another hack. That driver then posted the tale on this site.Im sure some one will confirm this.

@Am133,
Once again sorry to disapoint you guys in town. I HAVE never used this site, looked at this site or posted anything on this site until TWO DAYS AGO so I cant ever have bragged on this site about flimping. You most certainly have got me confused with someone else.If you see me in town then please aproach me and I will be happy to show you my computer screen with the details of the job that I am in town waiting to pick up. Obviously the newcastle hack drivers who see me directing customers to their cars and ranks aint got the balls to make comment on this site. I have even caught several central drivers (berwick plate hacks and a white skoda superb north tyneside p/h plate) nicking MY pre booked fares in town and reported them back to our office. End of conversation guys!!

With reference to BREAD VAN MAN, Central Taxis in North Shields is a very large firm, but 95% percent of it’s specialist Vehicles are Hackney,s, whether they are wheelchair Doblo’s up to 8 seaters, 7 seat Scudo’s etc, company and owner, believe me they all go Hacking on a weekend if they are working!, BREAD VAN MAN stays on the Office to do return 7 seater Jobs back to the coast, rather than sit on the never ending Rank on South Parade, many folk book 5 seater plus to go to town early on, but the vehicles that take them are often elsewhere late on, so it can be short and BREAD VAN MAN brings them back, that is why he just hangs out in Town!, but does his Contracts in between!
Regards
Stephen

@Andy Warhol,
Sorry to disapoint you but NO I am NOT the central bread van that parks outside of Flairs every weekend. It may be the Berwick plated VW with same livery, it sure aint me. I dont have to explain myself but here goes chaps. Boom – door security staff from there and other venues going back to North Shields. Circus casino (formerly Stanley) several staff going back to preston grange and cullercoats (yes thats whitle bay) and the powerhouse and other venues on the gay triangle, both staff and drinkers. There is not gay venues in North Tyneside and those coming out of places like powerhouse etc prefer to use a North Shields company as the set fare is only £11.00 and at that time of the morning their may only be a handful of drivers still working from office so it will be the same cars picking up in town and returning to north tyneside. If you want to do the work for £11.00 and £15.00 then your welcome to it, if not then shut up and let us get on with getting our customers back over the border to north tyneside!!! I may be a north tyneside hack but I work via an office doing private hire work. If you all did as much work (either hack or ph) as you do moaning, complaining and slaging people off on this site then you would be better off than Stevie Wonder driving a Berwick Hack!!!!!!!!!!!!
