Police in Worcester, investigating the murder of a man in the city believe A taxi driver may have driven the victim and another man to a park shortly before an attack took place.
The body of Gordon Whitehouse, 66, from Whitbourne, Worcester, was found in the city’s Gheluvelt Park at about 0510 BST on 15 July.
Police believe he and another man travelled in a taxi from a city centre rank earlier that night.
A man in his 30’s, from Ombersley, has been charged with his murder and has been remanded to appear at Worcester Crown Court on 28 July.
Det Insp Jim Fox said he believed Mr Whitehouse and another man hired a taxi, possibly from near the Odeon cinema, at about 2300 BST on 14 July.
“We urge the taxi driver to come forward as a matter of urgency to assist our inquiries,” he said.
Officers are also trying to trace a group of people seen with Mr Whitehouse in the Saracen’s Head pub that evening.
