While I acknowledge that attacks against taxi drivers are abhorrent and racist attacks in particular are despicable. It is always entirely wrong to abuse a taxi driver based on the colour of their skin and such actions always tend to isolate our communities more than they already are with respect to the political climate.
When a taxi driver is genuinely in the wrong though it is the job of the enforcement officers to exact the correct level of control but the quality of this enforcement appears to vary a great deal from city to city.
One city which is absolutely on the ball is Birmingham City Council who sadly have their work cut out with the level of offences being committed. On the Licensing Prosecutions page of their website they name and shame the drivers and all those caught within a six month period are listed. This list is updated on a monthly basis.
