Can someone remind the council that the taxi trade does not run from 9.00am – 5.00pm. They broke their necks to license all these cars without any adequate procedures in place to police them correctly and protect the public.

It is bad enough that they have not allowed enough rank space for our parking requirements but the complete lack of enforcement will be their undoing as we read more and more stories like the one below:

Police hunt taxi driver over sex assault
Apr 4 2010 By Alastair Craig

A TEENAGE girl has been subjected to a sickening sexual assault by the taxi driver she trusted to take her home.

Police say they are hunting a taxi driver following a sexual assault on a teenage girl over the Easter weekend.

The 17-year-old was attacked in the back of a taxi in the early hours of Sunday.

She had been after leaving Powerhouse nightclub in Westmorland Road, Newcastle, with a female friend.

The pair walked to a taxi rank and the victim hired what is believed to be a black taxi on her own.

Instead of taking her home the driver headed to a secluded location to attack her.

At the end of the journey in the area of Dukesway, Team Valley, in Gateshead, the girl was sexually assaulted.

Her alleged attacker then sped off and her left in the street.

The only description of the offender is that he was a dark skinned or Asian man over 30 years of age.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in the area of the Powerhouse between 1am and 2am on Sunday.

They also want to hear from anyone who may have seen the girl walking around the Dukesway area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gateshead CID on 03456 043 043 ext 64310 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.

Concerning the `sexual assault`,on a passenger on Easter sunday,…another front page advert and all over the `f….g` internet news pages, our business getting this sort of publicity that nobody wants.
When the the hell is our enforcement, namely messers Savage,Smith and co. going to get the message and get off their arses and do something about this.
Or do we need some piece of Shite, posing as a taxi driver,to mame or kill some poor innocent bastard before the authorities wake up and do something.
We currently have cars working in Town, supposedly with 1 company or other, probably no radio in the car, stickers all over to look like `taxis`,NO PLATES VISIBLE,either behind blacked out glass or not, drivers who have no idea where Newcastle is,when they are sitting in the `f…….g` place, and as i`m telling my passengers,be very carefull which cars they get in,as its not a question of `IF` this sort of offense occurs, more a question of `WHEN`.
As this young woman found out to her cost.
If the council wanted a `free for all`,they are heading the right way to get it,I just hope that these `clowns`,dont end up with the victim being 1 of their relatives,or maybe if that happened they might DO SOMETHING,to rid our streets of the SCUM that the council seems happy to allow to operate.
Come on Mr Shipley, earn some election brownie points, kick some arse in the enforcement dept, and see if you cant rid `our city` of this shite, before anyone else gets hirt.
Incidentally, this is the `clean` version so i hope its posted,as if i catch some piece of shite doing anything like that, plod might get to know after `IT` is dealt with.
I dont like the idea that women are affraid to get into either MY CAB,or that of another collegue, because some `faceless beaurocrat`,or `couldnt give a toss enforcement officer`,cant be botheres to do his job,or for what ever reason, wont do his job,and rid `our city`,of this shite.
