Why do Private Hire offices feel the need to send out warnings such as these when their drivers are going about their legitimate business,picking up their bookings. The majority of Private Hire drivers claim to be doing just this,nobody Flimps,Private Hire just have lots of bookings. Drivers are all NVQ’d etc.,etc.,cars are all clean,tidy and in Tip Top condition So what has any driver got to fear from an Enforcement officer? If you are a responsible operator why would you allow these kinds of messages to be broadcast across your Data systems, surely if a driver is checked over by enforcement the operator wants to know the outcome. If a car is unfit for the road it’s bad for your business and you would welcome that being brought to your attention. If a driver,who is supposed to be working your system,looking after your customers,is found to be illegally plying for hire then surely you would want to know about this also. It is hard to believe that an operator would sanction these kinds of messages as they are not in the best interests of the operators business.

I think they put them out because if they stop you to check your car even thought its in tip top condition then you will be taken off the road therefore making no money while they do their checks.
Also i Heard they were taking people off for the slightest things, such as your indicator bulbs arent orange enough.

your telling me someone who boasts that they have a tip top fleet, are affraid when enforcement check a car? they should be over the moon that enforcement tell them when they have a driver who does not have a valid test, bald tyre or something else! for the protection of there passengers if anything else.
no mate, we all know why desk clerks send out these warnings, sometimes down to exactly what they are wearing.
lets say this, a driver is caugfht flimping by a guy and woman, that driver wouldnt then warn the office who and what they are wearing, and then the clerks wouldnt warn the drivers! I know thats happened before!
so why do deskclerks/offices feel the need to hinder licencing operations?
and before you ask if hacks get ‘warned’ , no , mate we simply say to each other enforcement are out, then roll our eyes cause we know who they are hammering!
@Andy Warhol, To be fair andy there is also quite a few hacks try and scatter off the ranks when as you say the word gets spread around.So its not just Ph that seem to flap a bit when the word gets out!
None of us like getting pulled for having an orange bulb showing a tinge of white or a tyre that can legally pass an mot.
We all get hounded in the same way and we are all just making a living.
There again i have worked hackney and private hire for 20 odd years now and the same old bickering i hear year in and year out.
