Manchester…The Venice of the North West of England but will it catch on? They’re even Wheelchair accessible……..
Manchester graphic designer Dave Sedgwick, has created the identity for a new style of transport, which is about to make a splash in Manchester.
WaxisThe Manchester Water Taxis are expected to launch in December 2010, in time for the opening of MediaCityUK.

Those behind it believe it’s a way to create environmentally friendly public transport via Greater Manchester’s waterways.

“At the moment we only really have the beginnings of the brand identity, but we’re working closely together and have some really good ideas for ‘WAXIS’ (as they are affectionately being named!). Manchester embraces new and exciting ideas and this is definitely one of them,” said Sedgwick.

He won the brief without going through a pitch process and is now working on advertising, marketing and online materials.

Cant see that working somehow. Cant see the elderly folks having shopped at Tesco’s and then catching a water taxi. Nice as a tourist gimmick but cannot see it as a viable commercial prospect in sunny Manchester.
