Police are warning of the dangers of unlicensed taxis after a woman was sexually assaulted in Oxfordshire by a man claiming to be a taxi driver.
The woman, in her 20s, was walking along the High Street, Banbury, when the driver asked if she wanted a lift.
He started making inappropriate conversation and then touched her leg, Thames Valley Police said.
The woman told the driver to stop, and then jumped out of the car, ran away and called police.
The incident happened in the early hours of 24 October but details have only just been released.
The car was described as a dark grey or silver coloured Audi estate car, with roof bars.
Police said the driver was a white Eastern European man, with short blonde hair.
Pc Gary Hoy said: “It appears that this was an unlicensed taxi and once again highlights the importance of using legitimate firms and taking taxis from established taxi ranks.”
